TGIF – how’d we get to the end of june so quickly?

SO glad Friday came quickly. ūüôā¬† I took the day off from work today to get a lot of things done around the house, and then looking forward to a great weekend with my awesome friends. Pictures to come!

Figured on this THANKFUL Friday I would share great things I’m thankful for.

Sweet Friendships

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated the sweet marriage of my dear friend, Carli.¬† I am so thankful for the friendships that I’ve made through living in community with believers at Watermark.¬† I cannot tell you how much of a blessing the friendships I’ve made in community it’s been to me.¬† These girls [see jumping picture below] have been with me through the thickness of my dad’s passing and through the joys of getting married, finishing graduate school and so much more.¬† I am so thankful for them.

Amanda, Carli & I at Carli’s Wedding – June 9, 2012

College Football

I may have gone to SMU for college, and wemay not be the best team around…but I still LOVE college football.¬† Not just SMU football, but since I married a Raider I am a big Texas Tech football fan¬† too. I.cannot.wait.until.football.season! So thankful that football season is only a few months away [actually…only 63 days away until the first Tech game]!!

Texas Rangers Baseball

My family is full of the biggest Texas Rangers fans I know.¬† Not only that, but we’re big #rangers7 fans.¬† Did you know every time the Rangers score 7 or more runs (win or lose) you can get 50% off Papa John’s the next day?¬† Papa John’s is one of my clients, but I’ve been a Papa John’s fan my whole life!¬† Anyway, having to keep up with the Rangers has been a part of my work responsibilities since last season, and I love that watching baseball is a part of my job!!!

Anyway, I went to a game on Wednesday night with a co-worker, and we had a great time!¬† Here’s a picture from the suite.¬† Needless to say, I am so thankful for Rangers baseball!

My Baby Sister, Kristina

She came to stay with me the other weekend while Len was out-of-town and we had such a great time together.¬† We made delicious red velvet cake balls [my new obsession], watched two of the three Lord of the Rings, and just vegged out.¬† Not only am I thankful for her sweet nature, but my sweet Chaca-pup couldn’t get enough of her Aunty Kristina.¬† They were so precious together.

You know those days where time seems to go really slow and then you realize, wow, how has 10 years gone by?¬† I remember it just like yesterday when I was Kristina’s age and in high school, and now I’m almost 25 and I’ve been married for a year and a half.¬† How did time go by so quickly. [Sorry for the timeless rant!]

I was so thankful for my time with her that weekend – we had a great time!

Until next time…

Kat

Love: Weddings, Friends and Food!

I’d have to agree with Amy, over at A Glimpse of the Gouglers,¬†that this summer there is just sooo much to love!

I’m loving¬†the awesome foundation group we’re in. ¬†The couples are fantastic. ¬†Below is a picture from our Christmas party from last year. ¬†Love, love, love each couple in our group. ¬†Not to mention our leader couple is amazing. ¬†God is so good to us to bless us with such a great group!

I’m loving¬†our new home. ¬†We are slowly but surely decorating, and I’ve even purchased a few tester samples of paint, so that will be our project next weekend to officially decide on paint colors!

Excited about testing this bold color on an accent wall. ūüôā

I’m loving¬†all the recipes I’m trying right now. ¬†Like the Sangria recipe I shared in yesterday’s post!

I’m loving¬†menu planning. ¬†This recipe is on the list for next week. ūüôā Broccoli salade – delish!

Oh, and of course…I’m loving¬†wedding season. ¬†See below for a great action shot of the dance floor. ¬†No shame!

And last, but most importantly…I’m loving this verse from the Lord’s word! ¬†Thank you God for your encouraging Word as I struggle through my walk.

Isaiah 40:30-31 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Thanks for visiting…

Delicious Red Sangria Recipe

As promised, see below for my delicious red sangria recipe that I made this weekend. ¬†I’ve tried several different recipes over the years, and this weekend I decided try my own recipe. ¬†I always get nervous trying new recipes with a group of people, but how could you go wrong with sangria?

Delicious Red Sangria

3.0L Carlos Rossi Sangria

3/4 Cup of Passion Fruit Malibu Rum

1 Cup of Sprite/7-Up

1 Cup of Pineapple Juice

1 Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate Mix (+1 full canister of water from the OJ container)

2 1/2 cups of frozen Mixed Fruit (mine was: strawberries, mango, peaches & pineapple)

1 Orange Thinly Sliced

2 Limes Thinly Sliced

Mix it all together, and let it chill for a couple of hours before serving.  And enjoy!

I promise this sangria recipe will NOT disappoint you. ¬†I’m actually drinking my last leftover glass as I type. Delish!

*As I mentioned in my previous post…I didn’t take ANY pictures this weekend, but I attached a picture that was pretty darn close to what mine looked like.

Housewarming Party!

We had a great night celebrating our new home with family & friends last night. ¬†I’m sad to admit that I didn’t take a single picture! ¬†For those of you that know me this is a big deal…I’m in love with photography, and I’m so bummed I didn’t take any pictures to capture the event!

We had great food & played plenty of volleyball & corn hole.

We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends to come celebrate our new home with us. Though quite a few people had other commitments and couldn’t make it, we are looking forward to having many more parties at our home! We definitely see parties in the horizon for Rangers and Cowboys games! Not to mention a Christmas party! Looking forward to continuing to share the yummy recipes I try!

Celebrating marriage!

It’s about time to update. ¬†Sweet friends of ours [Trey & Katina] got married on April 28th. ¬†Seven of the girls from our community group flew to Atlanta on Friday and had a great girls weekend while celebrating this new couple! ¬†I wanted to share a few pictures from our wonderful celebration weekend.

On Friday we got to ATL around noon, and headed to the hotel then to lunch. ¬†The rehearsal dinner was on Friday night and we had a great time! ¬†Then Saturday we lounged around the pool and then headed into town for lunch at Murphys [one of Trey & Katina’s recommended restaurants]. ¬†It was so tasty!

We went to a delicious little restaurant for brunch (Murphy’s) in Atlanta on Saturday, and it was delish! ¬†Above: Kim, Kristy, me & Jess.

The rest of the group at lunch: Heather, Amanda & Carli.

Katina had such sweet decor at the outside wedding.  I loved these flowers in the little glass jars!  So beautiful, and a great pop of purple color!
T&K are such an amazing couple and I’m so excited to see what the Lord has in store for their marriage! ¬†Katina’s love for the Lord is so inspiriting, and cannot wait to see what’s next! ¬†Their wedding was so full of love, family, joy and friendship – so beautiful!

Such a beautiful ceremony!

It’s official!

Absolutely LOVED getting to spend time with this couple [Briana & Oscar].  Cannot wait to spend more time with them in Dallas!!

We had such a great time on the dance floor!  Let me tell you РI have NEVER felt that sore from dancing ever!  We had such a blast, and it really was a wonderful wedding & reception.

Two of the girls at the wedding: Kristy & Heather.

To sum it all up Рwe had a great, much needed girls weekend.  Spending quality time with each other, relaxing at the pool, eating great food & wine, and celebrating a wonderful couple!!
