Month: January 2013

Home Organization – Phase 1 – The Office

Part of my goal for 2013 is to organize and decorate each room in our house from start to finish.  I’d like to make my goal finish one room each month (and yes each bathroom counts as their own room).  I’m starting with the office because that is where I will sew and put together any crafty things for the other rooms.

Below are a few of my inspiration pins for my office.

The bad news is that it’s already halfway through January, so I have some work cut out for me. The good news is that I’ve spent all day going through and purging what needs to be purged from the office. It feels great to get rid of things, and it will be even better once our office truly feels like ours!

I’ll post pictures of what the office looks like now, and what it looks like at the end of January!

Graduation Party – Part 2

Part two of Colleen’s graduation party success! Post 1 was all about the decor, but post 2 is all about the people.  My aunt Jacquelynn and Grandmom flew in from Delaware for the joyous occasion on Thursday night! I always love being able to spend time with my family!  Thursday night I came over after work and enjoyed seeing Aunt J and Grandmom. Friday night was Colleen’s graduation, and then Saturday was the party.  We had at least 45 people stop by throughout the evening in honor of our beautiful graduate!

This is another photo I forgot to share in my last post about the graduation party.  We made a hanging banner with squares of scrapbook paper (in this case different green patterned papers) and stenciled letters.  We hung the banner on twine and mounted to the ceiling with a little tape!  The banner turned out so cute, and was perfect for taking pictures.  We had quite the photoshoot with the graduate and the banner!

It wouldn’t be a graduation party with a little cake in the face!  Don’t worry – we made sure it was the gluten-free cake. 🙂  Family traditions are the best.  The first cake in the face was at my high school graduation 7 years ago!  Thanks Caryn for starting that!  Gotta love action shots!

And an after shot, of course!  They are even beautiful with icing all over their faces.  This was moments before Colleen decided to scrape icing from her chin and smear on my forehead and hair!!

Loved this little bread box that held more of the vases, balloons and the wine corks in a cylinder vase!

The graduate and our sweet niece, Kaley!

The graduate and I!  Unfortunately this is a shot up my nose….but I love it anyway!

Mom and the graduate!  Look at that proud face on our beautiful momma!

And here, folks, is her mad punching skills.  Watch out bad guys!

I was so grateful that I was able to spend time with my beautiful grandmom who flew down to Dallas all the way from Delaware.  Enjoyed our sweet time together!

DSC_0115It’s hard to tell in this photo, but this is Colleen showing off her new iPad from the sisters!  Let me tell you – sisters are the best!  I don’t know what I would do without my four beautiful, amazing, smart sisters!  They each are such a blessing from the Lord and I am so grateful!

All-in-all it was a perfect celebration!  We had some great food, yummy sangria and great time with family and friends.  So glad we were all able to come celebrate Colleen graduating from UNT.  I’m so excited to see where the Lord takes her next on her journey.  The Lord has great things in place for her and I cannot wait to see the plans unfold.

Ciao!

Graduation Party Success

My beautiful little sister graduated from UNT last month and we had the joy of throwing her a party.  I had so much fun planning all the decor and even more fun creating everything with my sisters, aunt, mom and niece the day of the party.  Everything turned out perfect, and she was so excited! See below for pictures from the day.

We decorated mason jars with thick burlap ribbon and tied a green bow around each jar. We filled each mason jar with different green, white, and green tipped flowers. We placed 24 vases around the house – entry way, cake table, food spread tables and anywhere else there was room! It turned out beautifully!

As a little extra fun we tied ballons around Colleen’s gift. We got her an iPad and she was SO EXCITED!

We hot glued burlap around each mason jar (quart & pint sizes), and tied green bows around each jar. They turned out super cute. I’m going to use them again for another party later this month, but swap out the green ribbon for red!
