Office Mood Board

So, since I started working from home I’ve been a busy bee with planning/designing my home office!  Below is a quick glimpse of my inspiration board for the space. I’d love to know what you think. My goal is to have my office completed by the end of April!

I could seriously decorate my whole house in turquoise, but then I realize that I would probably get bored to quickly…hopefully the blue below in my color scheme is different enough, but still cures my craving for some lovely blues!  Yellow is a color, according to research, that warms people and makes them feel happy – not to mention I just love the color. So I thought it would be a nice color to use in the office since I’ll be spending most of my week in there!

1) Desk – I love, love, love the legs on this desk.  When I saw this desk and how easy it was for the blogger to make it, my hubby and I quickly drew up plans. I’ll wait to reveal the desk as I still have to paint it. 🙂

2) Rug – I’m thinking about a rug with a similar pattern to this one. I love the trellis type patterns, but I want to make sure I don’t get carried away and have the same style rug in all rooms of our house.  I’m leaning toward a yellow/white rug, but would love to throw in one of the accent colors from my colors cheme.

3) Curtains – I am planning on making the curtains myself.  Cannot wait for this to come to fruition.  I was planning on going to a fabric store today during my lunch break, but then a lovely, lovely thunder/lightening storm blew in so I am not going out in that.  (For those of you who don’t know — I am terrified of thunder.  Lightening is fine, but the sound scares me crazy!)

4) Office Chair – I have a parsons chair that needs upholstering and thought that would be a fun office chair to have not to mention a neat statement piece.  The only problem is they aren’t necessarily ergonomic!

5) Desktop Design – Love this DIY oversized mousepad!  Thinking about making something similar (maybe in the teal color).

6 & 7) Closet Organization – I want to make sure my office closet is well organized.  This will house my work supplies, craft supplies and my gift wrap station.  I already have the hardware for the gift wrap organizer so I’m excited to install that this week.  I love this idea of buying wood crates and getting cute bins to store things inside of them.  We’ll see where I net out!

Catching Up

Wow, it’s been WAY too long since my last blog post. I’ll be honest with you. I let a lot of things get in the way, but I’m excited to be claiming back my life and doing the things I’m passionate about in 2014.  Let me catch you up on what’s happened since May 2013.

1) Girls beach trip to Galveston with some of my beautiful girlfriends and made new friends as well. Those were beautiful memories made! I had the pleasure of driving with Carli down to the beach and so enjoyed our conversations. Even though we may go months without seeing each other we so easily pick right back up where we left off!

2) The hubs and I adopted a second puppy and she’s now 10 months old.  She’s as cute as can be and we are so blessed to have two beautiful furbabies!  It may have taken her big sister (5 1/2 years old) about six months to warm up to the baby, but now they are almost best buds!

3) We hosted Katina’s baby shower at my house and so enjoyed having all her friends and family here to celebrate her and baby Joy!

4) We had lots of family time and enjoy soaking up every moment. And this Irish gal has lots of family so anytime we’re together it’s a party!

5) Most of my sisters and I flew up to PA for a four day weekend to spend time with our beautiful grandmom, two of our aunts and a few cousins. We had such a great time! Wish I would have brought my real camera!  Those memories will last a life time and we will definitely be flying back up to PA this year!

6) Spent Christmas with Len’s family down in San Antonio and had a great time. His aunt snapped a few great family pictures that I unfortunately STILL need to print & frame. It’s on my list for this month for sure!

7) I took my first maternity photos for a friend of mine and I’m really happy with how they turned out! They are such a beautiful couple so that made it really easy.  They have since had their precious baby boy and I cannot wait to meet him.

8) I had my last day at LOOMIS. This was a change that God made evidently clear it was a part of His big beautiful plan. I never imagined how hard it would be for me to leave LOOMIS, but looking back almost a month later I am thankful and excited for what He has in store for me.

9) Started a new job with an agency based out of Kansas City and the best part about it is…I get to work FROM HOME!!!! God’s plan is so beautiful, sovereign and perfect. I don’t know why I think I should be in control when His plan is always WAY BETTER than our own!

10) Because of the new job I’m getting to spend way more time with my amazingly awesome husband! We are going on walks every day, going kayaking more often, and just spending more time together. I am just soaking up all this time!!!

11) I ran a half marathon a week ago with my sister and sister-in-law.  And let me tell you…it was ROUGH. But I am so excited to run my next one!  Who’s with me?!

There are many, many, many more things that happened over the past year – but this is just a glimpse!

Am I washing feet?

Yesterday we learned about washing feet. About helping those through the help we’ve received from Christ. God really shook me on this one yesterday. In John 13, Jesus washed his disciples feet. It’s incredible if you think about it.  Jesus, the savior of the world, knelt down and washed Peter’s feet.  The significance of this goes beyond Jesus being a Rabbi who ordinarily would never do such a thing. In this timing, it was the servants who washed the feet of those who entered a house – never a Rabbi washing feet!

And then it shook me further. This chapter wasn’t just about Jesus washing Peter’s feet.  But about giving the disciples a glimpse of what was to come. John 13:8 “…Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”  The only way we can be cleansed is if we come to Jesus – no other way. It’s because of His actions, His death, His sacrifice that we are made new!  So grateful that He has cleansed me.

As I’ve been studying God’s word leading up to Easter and preparing myself for this season in a way so vastly different than I have before my heart aches for God, the Father, and the sacrifice He had to make for this world.  He had to give up His Son in order for us to live.  Talk about a internal battle. The Father had to choose between His Son and us.  If that doesn’t rock your world and make you feel loved then I don’t know what will!

What’s more is He loves us as we are. He loves us regardless of the dirt we have on our feet. He loves us wholly. He loves us greater than we could ever put down in words.  How are we using that love?  Am I loving others around me well? Am I washing the feet of the people around me who need it?

We need to leverage our power for those who have none.  I pray that the Lord reveal to me how I can do that in these weeks leading up to Easter.  I want to wash feet.  Will you join me?

You really should listen/watch the message that we heard yesterday. It was fantastic: http://hopefellowship.net/watch

— Oh, and for those of you who know me really well.  You have to laugh at that statement above. I want to wash feet. I, the one who has been squeamish about feet since I was little, want to wash someone’s dirty feet!
